thanks for the info, I had my HTC Hero a while back and it was from Ukraine so it didn't have the Market icon by default. It has something to do with country/regional restrictions by Google, I'm not really sure.

Can I ask from what region/country did your Desire originate? I plan to check mine as well before booting to be sure I will have access to the Marketplace. Thanks a lot!
